Interview with Walter Swinburn
Just last week I had the privilege to sit and chat with Derby-winning jockey and successful trainer Walter Swinburn. Until he gave up his licence in October he trained a string of horses at the Church Farm stables in Aldbury, which is about 2 miles from where I live in Tring.
I have to confess I was more than a bit nervous at the prospect of interviewing such a well-known celebrity from the world of racing, for my humble little blog.
The memories are still crystal clear,” reflected 50-year-old Swinburn. “The thing about Shergar is, even though I didn’t realise it at the time, it soon became clear that there wasn’t going to be another one like him.
During our conversation we got to talk about that Derby ride, Shergar, his transition from jockey to trainer, and his plans for the future.

FINAL REVIEW: TopHorseRacingProfits.com
Geoff over at OnlineBettingExposed.com has just posted his final review of the betting systems web site TopHorseRacingProfits.com

Big Buck's extends winning run to fourteen
The feature race of the weekend was the Lough Derg Long Walk Hurdle (Grade 1) at Ascot, and we all waited to see if Big Buck's could extend his winning streak to an incredible fourteen successive victories.
Trainer Paul Nicholls has confirmed we won't see Big Buck's again now until he lines up for the World Hurdle at the Festival next March.
Big Buck’s won’t run again until Cheltenham. Andy [Stewart, owner] and I had a chat on Saturday night and we’ve decided to do what we did last year, which means just giving him a racecourse gallop before the World Hurdle to sharpen him up.
The Long Walk was the only race covered by Horse Racing Trends over the weekend. Unsurprising Big Buck's was the advised selection, but odds of 30/100 didn't make much more than a pimple on the profit graph. But a win none-the-less.

Grandouet wins International Hurdle at Cheltenham
Grandouet won the Grade 2 International Hurdle at Cheltenham on Saturday, and confirmed himself as one of the main contenders for the Champion Hurdle at the Festival next March.
Grandouet was 2nd top rated by Horse Racing Trends for the race on Saturday, with Overturn being the runner most closely matching the profile of previous winners of this champion hurdle trial. In fact it was a very successful afternoon for followers of trends analysis.
This was the first time that Grandouet was racing outside his own age group and he became the first four-year-old to win this since stablemate Binocular back in 2008.
The other races covered by the Horse Racing Trends service on Saturday were the Bristol Novice Hurdle (Grade 2), the December Gold Cup H'cap Chase (Grade 3), and the Relkeel Hurdle (Grade 2). This is how the top rated horses fared.
- Deidreadh Re (1) won 2/1
- Quantitativeeasing (1) won 6/1
- Grandouet (2) won 5/2
- Oscar Whisky (1) won 4/9

If the cashier in your local bookies has the personality of a house brick, then you need to read this article...
Today at SkyBlueKangaroo you can read a guest post from Dominic Godwinson, discussing the betting shop cashier of the future, and he's called SAM.
These touch screen activated units are taking the place of ‘in-person’ betting in horse race tracks all over the globe. You are able to overcome language barriers faced when dealing with a human teller with the computerized betting program that can be preset in any language.
I hasten to add, the staff in Coral's in Tring are as friendly as a labrador, so I hope we don't see any of these impersonal contraptions any time soon.

Horse Racing Trends Sandown double
Trends analysis proved a winning strategy and confirmed the two favourites in the big races at Sandown on Saturday. Both Al Ferof and Sizing Europe closely matched the profile of previous winners of the Grade 2 King Henry VIII Novice Chase and the Grade 1 Tingle Creek.
This is what winning trainer Paul Nicholls had to say about Al Ferof,
He jumped brilliant, which is what we wanted, but to be at his best he needs a fast-run race as he does nothing in front and pulls himself up. I also think the second is a bloody good horse

Fans wishing for a Boxing Day fairytale could create value in Boxing Day King George
Could Kauto Star score one more fairytale win in the King George Chase on Boxing Day? There will be many racing fans who would love to see it hapen, and may be prepared to back their dream with cash stakes.
If this happens, and the price on the Paul Nicholls stellar jumper shrinks, I think we could see some value emerge about last year's winner Long Run.
Prior to the race at Ascot I thought that Master Minded was the horse who could be more dangerous/interesting at Kempton. After watching Ascot, it’s Kauto I’d be more frightened of. Master Minded didn’t look as likely a three-mile horse as I thought he would, but that’s only my opinion.

Point2Lay final review
The guys at BettingSystemTruths.com have called time on their review of the Point2Lay betting bot.
By all accounts the software has a bug, and picks the wrong selections, then bets on them. Nightmare!
I have been in touch with our programmer. He admits that it is faulty but still unable to reproduce the fault as to find a solution to it. He has said he will keep checking it until he finds where the issue is.
To throw throw my twopennyworth in here, I should comment that I've had previous dealings with Emma (Emanuel) Jones at TaxFreeQuid, and found him to be wholly unprofessional. Personally, I would walk in the other direction rather than get involved with any product they promote.

Racing Profits: Final Review
After 84 days, those fabulous guys over at LayTheOdds.com have published a final review of Racing Profits for us.
The betting system gets a three-stars-out-of-five 'passed' grading, but make sure to read the full review at LayTheOdds.
With time and effort put into using the system you might expect bigger return, but I feel the profit is just enough to make it worthwhile.

Overturn completes historic double
This afternoon Overturn became the first horse to add a win in Newcastle's biggest jumps race, the Fighting Fifth Hurdle, with its biggest Flat race the Northumberland Plate.
The Donald McCain-trained horse was also profiled by the Horse Racing Trends service as the likely winner, and members enjoyed watching him lead almost from the start, repelling Champion hurdler Binocular along the straight run in at Newbury, to win at odds of 7/4
The versatile seven-year-old was backed in to 7-4 from an opening show of 7-2 before making all the running under Jason Maguire to win by four and a half lengths from the easy-to-back Binocular.

London 2012 Olympic volunteers uniforms revealed
What do you think? You can tell it's for the British games, because all the volunteers will get a jacket, polo shirt, trousers, trainers, socks, cap, bag, water bottle.... and an UMBRELLA!
Key features include engraved buttons with Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, embroidery under the collar featuring London's skyline and the officials' oath as a label. The suit's lining will feature iconic buildings in the capital including the Gherkin and the London Eye.

Free handicap chase system
Matt over at Geegeez has come up with another betting system which displays great potential for long term profits.
This is a text book example of how to develop your own profitable betting system. First in my book, for a betting system to be credible, it should be based on a sound premise, and Matt explains how the idea for this system struck him whilst he was watching the racing. Then, having the inkling there may be a market bias he has gone away to dig deeper. Full marks for diligent research.
